What is eSIM?
eSIM (Embedded SIM):
- A SIM card embedded directly on the device’s motherboard.
- Users do not need to insert a physical SIM card into the SIM tray.
Types of eSIM:
- Full-package eSIM: Supports calling, texting, and high-speed data (similar to a traditional physical SIM).
- Data-only eSIM: Provides high-speed data only.
Advantages of eSIM
- No physical SIM tray required: Since the SIM is embedded in the device, you don’t need to use a SIM ejector tool. This minimizes the risk of losing or damaging the SIM during use.
- High security: eSIM is protected with advanced security technologies, reducing the risk of hacking or information forgery.
- Easy carrier switching: eSIM allows users to quickly switch carriers and plans without physically removing or inserting a SIM card.
- Supports multiple eSIM profiles: You can install multiple eSIMs on one device, but only one can be active at a time.
- Convenient for travel: eSIM is especially useful for travelers. When going abroad, you can easily purchase, install, and activate an eSIM online from home without visiting a store or waiting for a physical SIM to be delivered.
eSIM-Compatible Devices
- eSIM is a new technology that is gradually becoming popular worldwide. Leading smartphone brands such as Apple (iPhone, iPad), Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi, and others have released many models that support eSIM.
- For iPhone: All iPhone models from XS and XR onwards support eSIM.
- For Samsung: Galaxy S series from Galaxy S20 onwards, Galaxy Note series from Note 20 onwards, as well as Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models all support eSIM (note that some versions may not support it).
- For Oppo: Oppo currently has limited models supporting eSIM. Some premium models such as Find X3 Pro and Find X5 Pro may support eSIM depending on the market.
- For Xiaomi: Several flagship models support eSIM, including Mi 11, Mi 12, and Mi MIX Fold.
- For Huawei: Huawei previously supported eSIM in certain models such as P40 and Mate 40 Pro. However, due to U.S. sanctions, later Huawei devices may no longer support eSIM.

eSIM Installation Guide for Each Device

Frequently Asked Questions about eSIM Installation

How many eSIMs can be used on one device?
You can store multiple eSIM profiles along with one physical SIM card on your device. The maximum number of eSIMs that can be stored varies depending on the device and manufacturer.

Should I purchase and install an eSIM before traveling?
You can purchase an eSIM up to 15 days in advance, but it is recommended to install it only shortly before departure, as the validity period starts once the eSIM is installed on the device.
For example, with SKYJET eSIM, the waiting period is 15 days, meaning you can buy it 15 days before your trip. The validity period will begin once it is installed on the device.

Does an eSIM work without internet?
Yes. An eSIM functions like a physical SIM and will continue to work normally even without internet.
Internet is only required during the installation and activation of the eSIM on your device.

Can the same eSIM be used on two different devices?
No. One eSIM cannot be used on two devices at the same time.

Can I use an eSIM and a physical SIM card simultaneously?
Yes, if your device supports it. When both are activated, your device functions as a dual-SIM phone. Please check your manufacturer’s guidelines before activating your eSIM for the first time.
Before starting to install an eSIM on your device, you need to prepare:

Installing eSIM on Samsung Devices

FAQ

Each eSIM can only be used once. When the data package is fully consumed or the eSIM has expired, you can uninstall the eSIM from your device.
Do I need to remove an expired eSIM from my device?
Yes. You can purchase an additional data package on the SKYJET website or contact a SKYJET booker to continue using the service when your eSIM runs out of data.
Can I extend or top up data for an eSIM?
Yes. eSIM provides data for using all communication apps such as WhatsApp, Viber, Zalo, etc. When you turn off the primary SIM, the apps on your phone that were previously logged in will remain active and will not be signed out. Users can still use the Internet from the eSIM to access these apps.
Can I use WhatsApp, Viber, and Zalo with eSIM?
After successfully installing the eSIM and arriving in a country where the eSIM has coverage, you only need to enable “Turn on this line” and “Data roaming” to use the eSIM for Internet access. There is no need for activation through SKYJET.
Will the eSIM activate automatically, or do I need to request activation from the provider after landing?
Each phone can store multiple eSIMs, but only one eSIM can be used at a time, except for iPhone 13 or later running iOS 13 or above, which can use two SIMs simultaneously.
The number of eSIMs allowed depends on the phone model. For iPhones, it can be up to 20 eSIMs.
How many eSIMs can be installed on one phone?
Yes, SKYJET provides regional eSIM packages such as Asia Travel eSIM, Europe Travel eSIM, and 3-country eSIM (Thailand – Vietnam – Cambodia). When you arrive in a country within the covered region, the eSIM will automatically connect to the most suitable local carrier (usually the best available network).
Examples:
Asia Travel eSIM can be used in 7 countries: Singapore, Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Europe Travel eSIM can be used in 31 countries: Ukraine, Sweden, Portugal, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Malta, Greece, Austria, Estonia, Finland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Albania, Romania, Spain, Luxembourg, Hungary, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Croatia, Poland, Belgium, Ireland, Cyprus, and Slovakia.
Are there eSIMs that can be used in multiple countries?
It depends on the eSIM package you are using. A data-only eSIM package only allows Internet connection and does not support direct calling or texting, but you can still make calls and send messages through apps such as WhatsApp, Zalo, Messenger, or video calls via FaceTime. A full-package eSIM with data and call minutes allows direct calling and texting according to its specific terms. Currently, most SKYJET travel eSIMs are data-only packages.
Can eSIM be used for calls and text messages?
► Compact and built-in: Suitable for all devices, including smartwatches.
► Convenient, no risk of loss: Purchase online, receive the eSIM via email, no need for physical insertion, no risk of losing or damaging a SIM card.
► Easy installation: Simply scan the QR code.
► Time-saving: No need to wait for SIM registration; ready to use within minutes.
► Multiple eSIMs on one device: Ideal for different purposes such as personal use, work, and travel. However, only one eSIM can be active at a time.
► Easily switch plans or carriers: Just purchase online and scan the code to switch to a new plan or carrier.
What are the benefits of eSIM?

► Purchase eSIMs online with just a few clicks
► Receive your eSIM via email

► The eSIM plan has expired, or
► You no longer need to use that eSIM.
When should I delete an eSIM?
